Science and Engineering Technology
Our approach is different to conventional current GTL systems. Billions of dollars have been invested by the major oil and gas companies and other major players in the GTL industry. Their focus has been on large plants using mainly technologies developed in the last 20 years.
We aim to provide a solution to the conversion of stranded and associated gas and we will develop safe, economic, small and modular systems to do this.
There are 3 steps in the manufacture of synthetic fuels using a gas to liquids process. They are Syngas, Fisher-Tropsch synthesis and hydrocarbon upgrading. In conventional systems, approximately 60% of the costs are attributed to the Syngas step.
The current Syngas production technologies that are used by the industry are Steam Methane Reforming (SMR), Auto Thermal Reforming (ATR) and non Catalytic Partial Oxidation (POX).
For Syngas production, Gas2 uses a Catalytic Partial Oxidation process (CPOX) utilising our proprietary ceramic membrane technology.
The key differentiators with the Gas2 Syngas Process are safety, improved efficiencies, cost savings, accurate ratios of hydrogen and carbon monoxide, ability to work at pressures found in the field, simplicity and flexibility.
Gas2 has also developed a proprietary process for converting Syngas to liquid fuels and other hydrocarbon products.
