HISTORY
Gas2 was created in May 2005 to exploit technology in the Gas to Liquids (GTL) technology space. The founders had already analysed the impact that a step change in efficiency could have in making the conversion of gas to a liquid hydrocarbon the technology of choice for problematic gas reserves and gas associated with oil production.
Natural Gas to Liquid solutions, on a smaller scale (versus mega projects involving very large oil companies), was a market which did not yet exist. It was clear that workable solutions in this market would have a strong proprietary technical content and would require a strong technical team to develop them.
In August 2005 a worldwide exclusive collaboration agreement was signed with The Robert Gordon University to develop and commercialise Gas to Liquids and related technologies. This agreement combined both the expertise of Gas2 and The Robert Gordon University.
Gas2's strategy continued to be driven by the need to have access to technology with ground breaking potential and to have rights of ownership to all Intellectual Property it was developing for its business.
During 2005, Gas2 continued to extensively review and enhance its technology portfolio with a view to developing advanced GTL technologies that would become best in class for safety, reliability and performance. Indeed safety and a step change in efficiency were the key attractions in developing Gas2's ceramic membrane technology.
In January 2006, a small group of Oil and Gas entrepreneurs with considerable experience of the energy sector provided additional funding. We built our first dedicated engineering laboratory that year and continued to make speedy progress in proving Gas2's technology.
Even further progress was made in February 2008 when we secured an additional investment of up to £10million from Lime Rock Partners LLP and a group of existing investors. This combination of industry expertise and strong funding support reflected the potential of Gas2's in-house technology to make a substantial impact on the global GTL industry.
In July 2008, we completed the build of our second custom designed engineering test laboratory for advanced prototype testing. All our facilities are DNV certified.
We have continued to establish strong collaborative agreements with world leading scientists and have now built a best in class research and commercial team; recruiting from all corners of the globe.
